A true hit. The book was 'read' so many times that it is falling apart and I ordered a copy for each of them that I will give to them when they had children. They even memorized it at 2 1/2 years old. The text is melodic. My boys love this book. They wanted to read it every night for the longest time. The illustrations are colorful and fun.
The pictures (the entire story is made with pictures of children's toys) are captivating. The onomatopoeia (words that are sounds) keeps his attention. I love reading this story and my son loves hearing it. A favorite. my son (2 1/2) sits with this book and chugga, chugga, choo-choos his way through it. The rhythmic story is delightful.
We also sang it when we played with toys trains.Bright colors, clever illustrations with many details, rhythmic text. The boys memorized it, so we really didn't have to turn the pages. Beware, once you read it a couple of times, like "It's a Small World After All," you won't be able to keep its song out of your head. My grandtwins loved this book. We read it so may times, the pages started to separate from the binding. Will be a classic.
If your little one love trains they will love to repeat "Chugga Chugga Choo Choo" along with you. He is starting to be able to tell me the story from memory. My grandson just turned 3 years old and he absolutely loves this book. Every day that he visits here we have to read it at least 2 times. Like most boys his age he loves trains so this was the perfect book.
We read it together every night before he goes to bed. The text is simple and rhythmical, and the story always makes him smile. My 21-month-old son loves this book. He loves looking at the pictures too, after I've read it through, I hold the pages open so he can explore the characters on each page.
